Reporter, East-Toronto Observer 2007 – Present

One-year hands on experience working with editors in developing hard news stories from the wires, covered local community events, such as the Live it up Challenge and Remembrance Day ceremonies at East York Civil Centre. Also, wrote articles on the closure of Donwood Institute, Kenya’s post-election violence, an editorial and sat on East-Toronto editorial board as a copy editor.

Reporter, torontoobserver.ca 2007 – Present

Pitched and shared story ideas, and covered GTA events such as Ontario Seniors Awards at Queens Park, a rally by United Mothers Opposed to Violence Everywhere (UMOVE). Also wrote articles on satellite signal theft, graffiti vandalism, and cyclists’ perspective on city’s bad roads.

During studies I‘ve worked with peers using variety of highly valued skills needed in today’s multi-platform newsrooms. Required subject include Journalism Law and Ethics, Mass Media communication and Canadian Politics.
